Muhammad Irfan Sadik
Founder
Muhammad Irfan Sadik is the founder and current Executive Director (ED) of Project Upokul. He started this research initiative in February 2025, along with two co-founders. Mr Sadik has completed his honors (B.S.S.) in International Relations at Jahangirnagar University and is currently pursuing his master’s at the same department. Mr Sadik is the first civilian in Bangladesh to develop and draft the conceptual idea for building a ‘Naval Doctrine for Bangladesh’, which he is currently working on in his master’s thesis. His research interests mainly focus on Security Affairs in the Bay of Bengal, Blue Economy, Climate Change: Adaptation and Mitigation Strategies, Coastal Economy, Disaster and Risk Management, and Indo-Pacific Geopolitics.
Nafiz Ur Rahman
Former Co-Founder
Nafiz Ur Rahman is a former co-founder of Project Upokul. He completed his honours (B.A) in English at Jahangirnagar University, and currently pursuing master’s at the same department. His research areas are in coastal education and coastal curriculum.
Emrul Hasan
Co-Founder
Hailing from Hatiya Island, Noakhali, Emrul Hasan is one of the co-founders of Project Upokul and is currently serving as the Head of Operations (HOO) of the organization. Emrul is studying for his Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Industrial Engineering at Daggendorf Institute of Technology, Germany. His research focuses primarily on Coastal Economy, Blue Economy, and Land Eroison.
